Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology South Australia TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Heatwave Warning Issued at 02:28 PM CDT on Sunday 25 January 2026 Valid for Sunday 25 January 2026 to Wednesday 28 January 2026 Warning for the following areas: Adelaide Metropolitan, Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Upper South East, Lower South East, Riverland, Murraylands, Mid North, Flinders, West Coast, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Lower Eyre Peninsula, North West Pastoral, North East Pastoral and Mount Lofty Ranges Safety Advice: Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell. Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre. Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home. If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool. Maximum temperatures broadly in the high thirties to high forties, extending over coastal parts on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Overnight minimum temperatures in the high twenties to low thirties across the pastoral areas and in the mid teens to mid twenties about the agricultural areas, peaking in the mid twenties to low thirties overnight Monday into Tuesday. Severe to locally extreme heatwave conditions will persist for an extended period. A significant easing of heatwave conditions is not expected until towards the end of next weekend. Locations likely to be impacted include Adelaide Metropolitan Area, Clare, Kingscote, Maitland, Mount Barker, Narracoorte, Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Renmark, Roxby Downs and the Barossa Valley. The next heatwave warning will be issued by 3:00pm CDT on Monday 26 January 2026
