Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology South Australia Fire Weather Warning for West Coast, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Mount Lofty Ranges, Yorke Peninsula, Riverland, Murraylands, Upper South East and Lower South East fire weather districts Issued at 04:13 AM CDT on Friday 09 January 2026 Weather Situation Very hot and dry conditions with fresh to strong and gusty north to northwesterly winds expected over large areas of South Australia today. A relatively stationary trough extending from the west along the coast will strengthen and accelerate through the day, moving eastwards and bringing cooler and gusty conditions in it's wake. Isolated thunderstorms are expected, mainly ahead of and near the change. Little precipitation is likely with thunderstorms, bringing the risk of dry lightning and damaging wind gusts.
