Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Moderate Flood Warning For The King River And Minor Flood Warning For The Ovens River Issued at 12:08 AM AEST on Thursday 02 July 2026 Flood Warning Number: 6 MODERATE FLOODING OCCURRING AT DOCKER RD BRIDGE MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING DOWNSTREAM OF LAKE WILLIAM HOVELL AND POSSIBLE AT DOWNSTREAM LAKE BUFFALO, BRIGHT, EUROBIN, ROCKY POINT, GRETA SOUTH, WANGARATTA FROM EARLY THURSDAY MORNING Moderate rainfall across the Ovens and King River catchments since Monday has caused significant river level rises, with further rainfall forecast through to Friday. Moderate flooding is occurring at Docker Road Bridge and minor flooding is occurring at downstream of Lake William Hovell. Minor flooding is possible at downstream Lake Buffalo, Bright, Eurobin, Rocky Point, Greta South and at Wangaratta from Thursday early morning. A Flood Watch is current for parts of North East and Central Victoria. Ovens River to Bright: Along the Ovens River, minor flooding is possible at Bright. The Ovens River at Bright is currently at 1.99 m and steady, below the minor flood level. The Ovens River at Bright may reach around the minor flood level (3.00 m) early Thursday morning. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. Buffalo River: Along the Buffalo River, minor flooding is possible at Lake Buffalo (Downstream). The Buffalo River at Lake Buffalo (Downstream) is currently at 2.94 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Buffalo River at Lake Buffalo (Downstream) may reach around the minor flood level (3.20 m) early Thursday morning. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. Ovens River Bright to Rocky Point: Along the Ovens River, minor flooding is possible at Eurobin and at Rocky Point. The Ovens River at Eurobin is currently at 3.37 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Ovens River at Eurobin may reach around the minor flood level (4.50 m) Thursday morning. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. The Ovens River at Rocky Point is currently at 2.52 m and steady, below the minor flood level. The Ovens River at Rocky Point may reach around the minor flood level (3.20 m) Thursday morning. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. King River: Along the King River, minor flooding is occurring at Downstream of Lake William Hovell and Cheshunt. Moderate flooding is occurring at Docker Rd Bridge. Ovens River downstream of Rocky Point: Along the Ovens River, minor flooding is possible at Wangaratta from early Thursday morning. The Ovens River at Wangaratta is currently at 10.67 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Ovens River at Wangaratta may exceed the minor flood level (11.90 m) early Thursday morning.
