Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Minor Flood Warning For The Avoca River Issued at 01:37 PM AEST on Tuesday 11 August 2026 Flood Warning Number: 2 MINOR FLOODING LIKELY AT CHARLTON TOWN TUESDAY AFTERNOON Moderate rainfall was recorded across the Avoca River catchment during Sunday and into Monday, with the heaviest falls recorded in the upper parts of the catchment. River level rises are occurring along the Avoca River. Avoca River to Charlton Town: River levels are elevated and areas of flooding may develop along the Avoca River including Yawong Weir and Charlton Town. The Avoca River at Charlton Town is currently at 3.90 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Avoca River at Charlton Town is likely to exceed the minor flood level (4.00 m) Tuesday afternoon. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads. Check the ABC and local media for updates.
