Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre. Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home. If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool. Maximum temperature in the eastern parts of VIC in the mid twenties to mid thirties on Saturday, reducing to mid teens to low thirties on Sunday, before increasing back to mid twenties to mid thirties again early next week. Minimum temperature in the low teens on early Sunday morning, with single digit over the elevated ranges. Severe to extreme heatwave conditions has eased over the western and central parts, with the cool change through the State on Friday and Saturday morning. Locations likely to be impacted include Albury-Wodonga, Bairnsdale, Corryong, Mallacoota, Orbost, Omeo, Shepparton, Sale and Wangaratta. The next heatwave warning will be issued by 3:00pm EDT on Sunday 11 January 2026
