Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Minor Flood Warning For The Avoca River Issued at 11:18 AM AEST on Sunday 16 August 2026 Flood Warning Number: 8 NEAR MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT CHARLTON TOWN AND MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT QUAMBATOOK FROM MONDAY EVENING The river level along the Avoca River at Charlton Town is just below the minor flood level. Further downstream, minor flooding is possible at Quambatook from Monday evening. Avoca River to Charlton Town: Near minor flooding is occurring at Charlton Town. The Avoca River at Charlton Town peaked at 6.39 m Thursday evening, with moderate flooding. The river is currently at 3.95 m and steady, just below the minor flood level. The Avoca River at Charlton Town may remain around the minor flood level (4.00 m) overnight Sunday into Monday. Avoca River downstream of Charlton Town: Minor flooding is possible at Quambatook. The Avoca River at Quambatook is currently at 0.99 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Avoca River at Quambatook may exceed the minor flood level (2.00 m) from Monday evening. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs.
