Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell. Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre. Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home. If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool. Maximum temperatures in the low to high forties over much of Victoria on Tuesday, then expected to range from the high twenties to low forties over inland Victoria from Wednesday until Saturday. Overnight minimum temperatures in the high teens to mid twenties over the north of the state, and in the low teens to around twenty in the south. Severe to extreme heatwave conditions will persist for an extended period, peaking on Tuesday and Wednesday, before gradually easing from the southwest later in the week and over the weekend. Severe heatwave conditions are no longer expected over the South West and Central districts, however low intensity heatwave conditions will persist in these districts until later in the week. Locations likely to be impacted include Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, Echuca, Horsham, Kerang, Mildura, Maryborough, Shepparton, Swan Hill and Wangaratta.
