Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Minor Flood Warning For The Avoca River Issued at 12:31 PM AEST on Tuesday 18 August 2026 Flood Warning Number: 10 MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT QUAMBATOOK OVERNIGHT TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY The river level along the Avoca River at Quambatook is rising slowly and minor flooding is possible overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. Renewed river level rises are possible along the Avoca River with forecast rainfall during later Tuesday and Wednesday. The situation is being closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required. Avoca River downstream of Charlton Town: Minor flooding is possible at Quambatook. The Avoca River at Quambatook is currently at 1.78 m and steady, below the minor flood level. The Avoca River at Quambatook may peak near the minor flood level (2.00 m) overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads. Check the ABC and local media for updates. The situation can change quickly, so stay informed.
