Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Western Australia TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Heatwave Warning Issued at 01:12 PM WST on Monday 22 December 2025 Valid for Monday 22 December 2025 to Thursday 25 December 2025 Warning for the following areas: Pilbara, Gascoyne, Central West, Lower West and South West Safety Advice: Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell. Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre. Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home. If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool. For the Pilbara, Gascoyne and Central West Districts expect maximum temperatures in the high thirties to mid forties and overnight minimum temperatures in the low to high twenties. For the Lower West and Southwest Districts expect maximum temperatures in the low to high thirties and overnight minimum temperatures in the low to high teens rising to the low twenties in northern parts of the Lower West. Severe heatwave conditions are likely to persist over the next few days, reaching a peak through the middle of the week. Locations likely to be impacted include Perth Metropolitan Area, Dwellingup, Geraldton, Gingin, Karratha and Yanchep. The next heatwave warning will be issued by 2:00pm WST on Tuesday 23 December 2025
