Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell.
Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre.
Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.
Maximum temperatures in the high thirties to low forties with overnight minimum temperatures in the low to high twenties. Temperatures are expected to peak tomorrow then ease after a westerly change moves through during the evening.
Severe heatwave conditions have eased over the Gascoyne and South West districts although low intensity conditions still persist. Maximum temperatures reaching the mid thirties to low forties with overnight minimum temperatures in the high teens to low twenties about the South West, increasing to the mid to high twenties over the Gascoyne, before easing with the change. Locations likely to be impacted include Geraldton, Kalbarri and Yanchep.
The next heatwave warning will be issued by 2:00pm WST on Thursday 25 December 2025
