Severe Weather Warning
for Damaging Winds
for Eucla, South East Coastal and parts of Goldfields, South Coastal, Great Southern and Central Wheat Belt districts.
Issued at 4:31 am Monday, 1 June 2026.
Damaging winds remain likely across southern and southeastern parts of WA today.
Weather Situation
A deep and intense low pressure system is moving east along the southern coast this morning. The system brought a significant burst of damaging to destructive winds to western and southern parts of the South West Land Division on Sunday night. As the low moves east today, the risk of damaging winds has shifted towards southeastern WA, and is expected to ease overnight tonight.
DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Goldfields, Eucla, South Coastal, South East Coastal, Great Southern and Central Wheat Belt
DAMAGING WESTERLY WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with gusts to 100 km/h are likely to continue over southern parts of the state today, gradually clearing to the east during the day.
A separate warning for DAMAGING SURF and ABNORMALLY HIGH TIDES is also current for parts of the coast. For more details, refer to https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and-climate/warnings-and-alerts
Locations which may be affected include Esperance, Kalgoorlie, Norseman, Balladonia, Bremer Bay and Eucla.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Central West, Lower West and South West districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.

133 KM/H WIND GUST WAS RECORDED AT CAPE LEEUWIN AT 4:56 PM.
91 km/h wind gust was recorded at Esperance at 2:11 am.
108 km/h wind gust was recorded at Jerdacuttup at 11:42 pm.
107 km/h wind gust was recorded at Ravensthorpe at 10:47 pm.
96 km/h wind gust was recorded at Cowalellup at 10:06 pm.
100 km/h wind gust was recorded at Jandakot Airport at 8:14 pm.
98 km/h wind gust was recorded at Dwellingup at 8:08 pm.
104 km/h wind gust was recorded at Mandurah at 8:07 pm.
106 km/h wind gust was recorded at Garden Island at 7:58 pm.
104 km/h wind gust was recorded at Mount Barker at 7:28 pm.
93 km/h wind gust was recorded at Perth Airport at 7:00 pm.
120 km/h wind gust was recorded at Busselton Jetty at 6:39 pm.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* If outside find safe shelter away from trees, power lines, storm water drains and streams.
* Close your curtains and blinds, and stay inside away from windows.
* Unplug electrical appliances and do not use land line telephones if there is lightning.
* If boating, swimming or surfing leave the water.
* Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen power lines and loose debris.
* Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
* Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris.
* Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live.
* Assess your home, car and property for damage.
* If damage has occurred take photos and contact your insurance company to organise permanent repairs.
* If your home or property has significant damage, like a badly damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500.
The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 am AWST Monday.
