Minor Flood Warning For The Katherine River

RENEWED MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT NITMILUK CENTRE WITH FORECAST RAINFALL
A second minor flood peak was observed at Nitmiluk along the Katherine River during Friday afternoon. River levels are slowly easing, and are currently just below the minor flood level. With forecast rainfall, renewed river level rises are possible and the Katherine River at Nitmiluk may remain around the minor flood level for the remainder of Saturday and into Sunday.
River levels at Katherine Bridge are expected to remain below the minor flood level for the next few days.
Katherine River Gorge Road:
Renewed minor flooding is possible at Nitmiluk Centre.
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is currently at 2.96 m and falling, just below the minor flood level.
With forecast rainfall, small renewed river level rises are possible and the Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre may remain around the minor flood level (3.00 m) for the remainder of Saturday and into Sunday.
Flood Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
