Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology New South Wales TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Weather Warning for Damaging Surf for Lord Howe Island Issued at 11:53 AM LHST on Saturday 04 July 2026 DAMAGING SURF CONDITIONS DEVELOPING SUNDAY Weather Situation A low pressure system in the eastern Tasman Sea and a high pressure system near Tasmania are combining to generate strong to gale-force southerly winds and large waves through much of the Tasman Sea. These conditions are expected to generate large and powerful waves at Lord Howe Island from Sunday afternoon. Conditions are expected to ease later Tuesday. The NSW State Emergency Service advise you: - Stay out of the water and stay well away from surf-exposed areas. - Check your property regularly for erosion or inundation by sea water, and if necessary raise goods and electrical items.
