Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Minor Flood Warning For The Mulgrave River Issued at 02:30 AM AEST on Sunday 15 March 2026 Flood Warning Number: 2 MINOR FLOODING EXPECTED AT PEETS BRIDGE AND GORDONVALE EARLY SUNDAY MORNING Heavy rainfall since Saturday evening has caused rapid river level rises across the Mulgrave River catchment. Minor flooding is expected along the Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge from around 3:30 am Sunday morning, and at Gordonvale from around 6:00 am Sunday morning. Further showers and possible thunderstorms are forecast for the remainder of Sunday which may cause additional river level rises. Higher levels are possible if heavy rainfall persists. The situation is being monitored and this warning will be updated as required. Mulgrave River: Minor flooding is expected along the Mulgrave River. The Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge is currently at 3.13 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge is expected to exceed the minor flood level (5.00 m) around 03:30 am Sunday. The river may peak near 6.10 m around 08:00 am Sunday, with minor flooding. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. The Mulgrave River at Gordonvale is currently at 9.25 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Mulgrave River at Gordonvale is expected to exceed the minor flood level (12.00 m) around 06:00 am Sunday. The river may peak near 12.40 m around 10:00 am Sunday, with minor flooding. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
