Moderate Flood Warning For The Mary River

MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT MIVA AND TIARO MONDAY MORNING AND AT DAGUN POCKET AND GYMPIE MONDAY AFTERNOON
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT MARYBOROUGH FROM OVERNIGHT MONDAY INTO TUESDAY
Moderate rainfall was observed across the Mary River catchment since Friday evening, with heavier falls expected during Sunday and into Monday. Depending on the timing and location of the heaviest falls, minor flooding may develop at Dagun Pocket, Gympie, Miva, Tiaro and Maryborough from Sunday evening. Further rises to moderate flood levels are possible at Miva and Tiaro from Monday morning, and at Dagun Pocket and Gympie from Monday afternoon.
Heavy rainfall is forecast across the catchment for the remainder of the Sunday and into Monday, which may cause additional river level rises. This situation is being closely monitored, and this warning will be updated as required.
A Flood Watch is current for most of Queensland. A Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall is current for large parts of southeast Queensland, including parts of the Mary River catchment.
Mary River to Gympie:
Moderate flooding is possible at Dagun Pocket and Gympie.
No observations are currently available for the Mary River at Dagun Pocket.
The Mary River at Dagun Pocket may exceed the minor flood level (7.00 m) overnight Sunday into Monday. The river may reach around the moderate flood level (13.00 m) Monday afternoon.
The Mary River at Gympie is currently at 1.06 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Mary River at Gympie may exceed the minor flood level (6.00 m) from Sunday evening. The river may reach around the moderate flood level (12.00 m) Monday afternoon.
Six Mile Creek:
River level rises are occurring along Six Mile Creek.
Mary River downstream of Gympie:
Moderate flooding is possible at Miva and Tiaro. Minor flooding is possible at Maryborough.
The Mary River at Miva is currently at 3.23 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Mary River at Miva may exceed the minor flood level (7.50 m) overnight Sunday into Monday. The river may reach around the moderate flood level (9.50 m) Monday morning. Further rises are possible with forecast rain.
The Mary River at Tiaro is currently at 4.19 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Mary River at Tiaro may exceed the minor flood level (6.00 m) Sunday evening. The river may reach around the moderate flood level (8.00 m) Monday morning. Further rises are possible with forecast rain.
The Mary River at Maryborough (Portside Alert) is currently at 2.65 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Mary River at Maryborough (Portside Alert) may exceed the minor flood level (5.00 m) overnight Monday into Tuesday.
Tinana Creek:
River level rises are occurring along Tinana Creek.
