Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Moderate Flood Warning For The King River And Minor Flood Warning For The Ovens River Issued at 10:00 AM AEST on Thursday 02 July 2026 Flood Warning Number: 7 MODERATE FLOODING OCCURRING ALONG THE KING RIVER AT DOCKER RD BRIDGE MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING DOWNSTREAM OF LAKE BUFFALO AND WILLIAM HOVELL AND POSSIBLE ALONG THE OVENS RIVER BETWEEN BRIGHT AND WANGARATTA FROM EARLY THURSDAY AFTERNOON RENEWED MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE ALONG FIFTEEN MIKE CREEK AT GRETA SOUTH Moderate rainfall across the Ovens and King River catchments since Monday has caused significant river level rises, with further rainfall forecast through to Friday. Moderate flooding is occurring along the King River at Docker Road Bridge. Minor flooding is occurring along the Buffalo River downstream of Lake Buffalo and along the King River downstream of Lake William Hovell. Minor flooding may develop along the Ovens River, including Bright, Eurobin, Rocky Point and Wangaratta from early Thursday afternoon. Renewed minor flooding is possible along the Fifteen Mile Creek overnight Thursday into Friday. A Flood Watch is current for parts of North East and Central Victoria. Ovens River to Bright: Along the Ovens River, minor flooding is possible at Bright. The Ovens River at Bright is currently at 2.34 m and steady, below the minor flood level. The Ovens River at Bright may exceed the minor flood level (3.00 m) overnight Thursday into Friday. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. Buckland River: Rive levels are elevated along the Buckland River. Buffalo River: Along the Buffalo River, minor flooding is possible downstream of Lake Buffalo. The Buffalo River at Lake Buffalo (Downstream) is currently at 3.61 m and rising, with minor flooding. The Buffalo River at Lake Buffalo (Downstream) is likely to remain above the minor flood level (3.20 m) during Thursday. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. Ovens River Bright to Rocky Point: Along the Ovens River, minor flooding is possible at Eurobin and at Rocky Point. The Ovens River at Eurobin is currently at 3.82 m and steady, below the minor flood level. The Ovens River at Eurobin may exceed the minor flood level (4.50 m) early Friday morning. The Ovens River at Rocky Point is currently at 3.00 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Ovens River at Rocky Point may exceed the minor flood level (3.20 m) early Thursday afternoon. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. King River: Along the King River, minor flooding is occurring at Downstream of Lake William Hovell and Cheshunt. Moderate flooding is occurring at Docker Rd Bridge. The King River at Lake William Hovell (Downstream) is currently at 2.13 m and steady, with minor flooding. The King River at Lake William Hovell (Downstream) is likely to remain above the minor flood level (1.80 m) during Thursday. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. The King River at Docker Rd Bridge is currently at 4.01 m and steady, with moderate flooding. The King River at Docker Rd Bridge is likely to remain above the moderate flood level (3.95 m) during Thursday. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. Fifteen Mile Creek: Along Fifteen Mile Creek, renewed minor flooding is possible at Greta South. The Fifteen Mile Creek at Greta South peaked at 2.74 m around 02:00 am Thursday, just below the minor flood level (2.80 m). The creek is currently at 2.33 m and falling, below the minor flood level. Renewed rises along the Fifteen Mile Creek at Greta South may exceed the minor flood level (2.80 m) overnight Thursday into Friday. Ovens River downstream of Rocky Point: Along the Ovens River, minor flooding is possible at Wangaratta from Thursday evening. The Ovens River at Wangaratta is currently at 11.28 m and steady, below the minor flood level. The Ovens River at Wangaratta may exceed the minor flood level (11.90 m) Thursday evening.
