Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Minor Flood Warning For The Pioneer River Issued at 05:57 AM AEST on Saturday 07 March 2026 Flood Warning Number: 2 MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT MIRANI SATURDAY MORNING ELEVATED RIVER LEVELS AND LOCALISED FLOODING OCCURRING ACROSS THE PIONEER RIVER CATCHMENT Moderate to heavy rainfall totals have been observed during overnight Friday into Saturday, which has resulted in river and creek level rises in the upper part of the Pioneer River catchment and its tributaries. Further moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast for the next few days, which may result in further rises. This situation is being monitored, and this warning will be updated as required. A Flood Watch is current for most of Queensland. Pioneer River: Minor flooding is occurring along the Cattle Creek at Gargett, and along the Pioneer River at Sarich, and Mirani Township. No observations are available for Mirani manual gauge along the Pioneer River. Based on near by automatic gauge it is estimated the river level at Pioneer River at Mirani is below the minor flood level and rising. The Pioneer River at Mirani may exceed the minor flood level (6.00 m) Saturday morning. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads. Check the ABC and local media for updates.
