Minor Flood Warning For The Katherine River

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT NITMILUK CENTRE
Moderate rainfall observed overnight Saturday into Sunday has resulted in river level rises along the Katherine River, where minor flooding is occurring at Nitmiluk Centre. With further rainfall observed overnight Sunday into Monday, renewed river level rises are occurring along the Katherine River, where a minor flood peak is possible at Nitmiluk Centre during Monday morning.
River levels at Katherine Bridge are expected to remain below the minor flood level for the next few days.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Top End, Barkly and Tanami Districts and Gulf of Carpentaria Rivers.
Katherine River Gorge Road:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre.
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is currently at 4.71 m and rising, with minor flooding.
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre may peak near 5.00 m Monday morning, with minor flooding.
Flood Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
