Moderate Flood Warning For The Daintree River And Flood Warning For The Bloomfield And Mossman Rivers

MODERATE FLOODING LIKELY AT DAINTREE VILLAGE
ELEVATED RIVER LEVELS OCCURRING ALONG THE BLOOMFIELD AND MOSSMAN RIVERS
Moderate to heavy rainfall in the Daintree River catchment since Friday has caused river level rises and minor flooding at Daintree Village early Sunday morning. The river level at Daintree Village is likely to exceed the moderate flood level Sunday morning. River level rises are being observed at China Camp along the Bloomfield River.
Showers and thunderstorms are possible for the remainder of Sunday, which may cause further river level rises. The situation is being monitored and this warning will be updated as required.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of North Tropical Coast and Tablelands Forecast District is current.
Daintree River:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Daintree River at Daintree Village. River levels are elevated along the Bloomfield River, further rises and flooding possible with continued rain.
The Daintree River at Daintree Village is currently at 5.75 m and rising, above the minor flood level (4.00 m).
The Daintree River at Daintree Village is likely to exceed the moderate flood level (6.00 m) Sunday morning. Further rises are possible.
Mossman River:
River levels rises are occurring along the Mossman River, further rises possible with continued rain.
Flood Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
