Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Minor Flood Warning For The Mulgrave River And Flood Warning For The Russell River Issued at 08:58 AM AEST on Sunday 15 March 2026 Flood Warning Number: 4 MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT PEETS BRIDGE AND GORDONVALE Heavy rainfall since Saturday evening has caused rapid river level rises across the Mulgrave River catchment. The Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge peaked above the minor flood level early Sunday morning, with river levels now easing. At Gordonvale, river level is likely to peak late Sunday morning, with minor flooding. River levels are elevated along the Russell River with minor flooding occurring at Bucklands and near minor at Clyde Rd. Further showers and possible thunderstorms are forecast for the remainder of Sunday which may cause renewed river level rises. The situation is being monitored and this warning will be updated as required. Mulgrave River: Minor flooding is occurring along the Mulgrave River. The Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge peaked at 6.80 m around 05:20 am Sunday, with minor flooding. The Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge is currently at 6.71 m and falling, with minor flooding. The Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge may fall below the minor flood level (5.00 m) Sunday afternoon. The Mulgrave River at Gordonvale is currently at 13.10 m and steady, above the minor flood level (12.00 m). The Mulgrave River at Gordonvale may peak near 13.30 m around late Sunday morning, with minor flooding. Russell River: River levels are elevated along the Russell River, with minor flooding occurring at Bucklands and near minor at Clyde Rd. Further river level rises are possible with forecast rainfall. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs.
