Initial Minor Flood Warning For The Upper Burdekin River

MINOR FLOODING IS POSSIBLE AT SELLHEIM (MACROSSAN BRIDGE) SUNDAY MORNING BASED ON FORECAST RAINFALL
Significant rainfall totals have been recorded in the Upper Burdekin on the eastern ranges around Paluma and surrounds. These totals have resulted in river level rises in the creeks and rivers upstream of Sellheim.
Further rainfall is forecast over the weekend, which may result in continued river level rises.
This situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as necessary.
A Severe Weather Warning is also current for parts of the North Tropical Coast and Tablelands and Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders.
Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding is possible at Sellheim (Macrossan Bridge). River level rises have been observed upstream of Sellheim at Running River, Star River, Keelbottom Creek and Fanning River.
The Burdekin River at Sellheim is currently at 2.90 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (12.00 m).
Based on forecast rainfall, the Burdekin River at Sellheim may exceed the minor flood level (12.00 m) Sunday morning.
