Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Moderate Flood Warning For The Herbert River Issued at 03:18 PM AEST on Saturday 07 March 2026 Flood Warning Number: 3 MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT GLENEAGLE AND MODERATE POSSIBLE OVERNIGHT SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY MINOR FLOODING EXPECTED AT ABERGOWRIE BRIDGE OVERNIGHT SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY, AND AT HALIFAX SUNDAY AFTERNOON Heavy rainfall during Friday and into Saturday in the upper Herbert catchment has resulted in creek and river level rises. Minor flooding estimated to be occurring at Gleneagle where moderate flooding may develop overnight Saturday into Sunday. Minor flooding is expected at Abergowrie Bridge overnight Saturday into Sunday, and at Halifax Sunday afternoon. Further showers and thunderstorms are possible for the remainder of Saturday and into Sunday, which may lead to further river level rises and flooding across the catchment. This warning will be updated as required. Herbert River to Nash's Crossing: Moderate flooding is possible along the Herbert River to Nash's Crossing. No observations are currently available for the Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead. Based on the nearby automatic gauge the river level is estimated to be around the minor flood level and rising. The Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead may reach around the moderate flood level (8.50 m) overnight Saturday into Sunday. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing: Minor flooding is expected along the Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge and possible at Halifax. The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge is currently at 5.32 m and falling, below the minor flood level. The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge is expected to reach around the minor flood level (6.00 m) overnight Saturday into Sunday. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. The Herbert River at Halifax is currently at 3.11 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Herbert River at Halifax may reach around the minor flood level (4.00 m) Sunday afternoon.
