Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Melbourne Area 
for Damaging Winds, Large Hailstones And Heavy Rainfall

for parts of Inner, South East, Northern, Outer East, Geelong and Bellarine Peninsula, Port Phillip waters, Western Port and Inner East Local Warning Areas.

Gusty thunderstorms moving across Melbourne and the Bay.

DAMAGING WINDS, LARGE HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Port Phillip waters, Western Port, Inner East, Inner, South East, Northern, Outer East and Geelong and Bellarine Peninsula
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:30 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Cranbourne, Geelong City and the area north of Whittlesea. These thunderstorms are moving towards the south to southeast. They are forecast to affect Berwick, Whittlesea and the area south of Whittlesea by 4:45 pm and Greensborough, Lang Lang and Pakenham by 5:00 pm.
 A 106km/h wind gust was recorded at Fawkner Beacon at 2:18pm.

Mornington Peninsula,Western

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
 * If driving conditions are dangerous, safely pull over away from trees, drains, low-lying areas and floodwater. Avoid travel if possible.
 * Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees.
 * Be aware - heat, fire or recent storms may make trees unstable and more likely to fall when it's windy or wet.
 * Check that loose items, such as outdoor settings, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured. Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
 * Stay indoors and away from windows.
 * If outdoors, move to a safe place indoors. Stay away from trees, drains, gutters, creeks and waterways.
 * Stay away from fallen powerlines - always assume they are live.
 * Stay informed: Monitor weather warnings, forecasts and river levels at the Bureau of Meteorology website, and warnings through VicEmergency website/app/hotline.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Northern Country, North Central, West and South Gippsland and parts of the Central, North East and Mallee districts.

The next warning is due to be issued by 5:05 pm.
