    Major Flood Warning For The De Grey River Catchment

    MAJOR FLOOD PEAK CLOSE TO MARCH 2000 FLOOD LEVELS POSSIBLE AT COOLENAR POOL LATE SATURDAY EVENING
     A major flood peak is currently occurring along the De Grey River at Coolenar Pool where river levels are above the March 2013 flood levels and rising. Further river level rises to levels similar to the March 2000 floods are possible.
     River levels along the De Grey River at Coolenar Pool will remain elevated into mid-week as peaks from the Shaw and Coongan Rivers are followed by peaks from the Nullagine and Oakover Rivers.
     River level rises and areas of flooding may adversely affect road conditions. Some roads may become impassable and communities may become isolated. Significant disruption of transportation network and extensive road closures are expected.
    
    Oakover River:
    Moderate flooding is easing slowly along the Oakover River at Ripon Hills Rd, where a moderate flood peak was observed earlier on Saturday morning.
    Nullagine River:
    Major flooding peaked on Saturday morning along the Nullagine River at Nullagine and Tumbinna Pool. River levels are slowly easing on Saturday afternoon, however high river levels and areas of flooding are likely to remain overnight Saturday into Sunday.
    Coongan River:
    Major flooding is easing slowly along the Coongan River, after major peaks were observed early Saturday at Marble Bar and Marble Bar Rd Crossing. Further river level rises and areas of flooding are likely along the Coongan River downstream of Marble Bar Rd Crossing overnight Saturday into Sunday.
    Shaw River:
    Major flooding is easing slowly along the Shaw river. A major flood peak was observed early Saturday at Marble Bar Rd Crossing and moderate flooding is likely occurring at North Pole Mine. Further river level rises and areas of flooding are likely along the Shaw River between Marble Bar Rd Crossing and Coolenar Pool on the De Grey River overnight Saturday into Sunday.
    De Grey River:
    Major flooding is occurring along the De Grey River.
    The De Grey River at Coolenar Pool is currently at 8.72 metres and rising with major flooding, currently above the March 2013 level (8.61 m).
    Major flood levels are slowly approaching a major peak along the De Grey River at Coolenar Pool on Saturday evening. River levels close to the March 2000 floods (8.86 m) are possible. The river level is likely to remain above the major flood level (8.00 m) throughout the weekend.
    
    Flood Safety Advice:
    DFES advises people and communities to be aware that flooding is possible and be prepared to relocate equipment and livestock. Watch water levels. Travellers need to be aware that road conditions may be adversely affected and travel plans may need to be reconsidered. Do not drive into water of unknown depth and velocity.}
