Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Major Flood Warning For The Daly River Issued at 06:51 AM ACST on Saturday 07 March 2026 Flood Warning Number: 4 MAJOR FLOODING EXPECTED ALONG THE DALY RIVER AT DALY RIVER POLICE STATION FROM LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON DALY RIVER POLICE STATION MAY REACH 14.50 M DURING SUNDAY Moderate to heavy rainfall has been observed across the Daly River catchment since Wednesday, with particularly heavy rainfall during Thursday and into Friday, resulting in river level rises along the Daly River. Moderate flooding is occurring at Daly River Police Station, with major flooding expected from late Saturday afternoon. Further showers are forecast during Saturday, the situation will be closely monitored and the warning will be updated as required. A major flood warning is current for the Katherine River, a flood watch is current for parts of the Bonaparte, North West Coastal and Carpentaria Coastal River catchments. Daly River above Douglas River: River rises are occurring in the upper Daly River, and flooding will continue for at least the next few days. Fergusson River: River levels are elevated along the Fergusson River and tributaries. Lower Daly River: Major flooding is expected along the Daly River. The Daly River at Daly River Police Station is currently at 13.31 m and rising, with moderate flooding. The Daly River at Daly River Police Station is expected to exceed the major flood level (14.00 m) late Saturday afternoon. The river may reach around 14.50 m during Sunday, with major flooding. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
