    Severe Thunderstorm Warning 
    for Heavy Rainfall
    
    for Central North and parts of North East and North West Coast Forecast Districts.
    
    Issued at 9:41 am Wednesday, 27 November 2024.
    
    Heavy rainfall with storms about parts of northern Tasmania.
    
    Weather Situation
    A very moist airmass and an upper trough are producing storms with heavy rainfall over Bass Strait, moving onshore onto the northern Tasmanian coastline.
    HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
    North East, North West Coast and Central North
    Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Devonport, Deloraine, Launceston, George Town, Scottsdale and Bridport.
     Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Western and Central Plateau districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.
    Cancellation for the following areas:
    Central Plateau,Western
    
    The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
     * Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
     * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
     * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
     * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
     * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132500.
    
    The next warning is due to be issued by 12:45 pm.
