Final Flood Warning For The Mitta Mitta River

MINOR FLOODING NO LONGER EXPECTED AT TALLANDOON
Rainfall totals up to approximately 50 mm were recorded across parts of the Mitta Mitta River catchment in the 24 hours to 9:00 am Thursday. Small river and creek level rises are occurring across the Mitta Mitta River catchment, however the Mitta Mitta River at Tallandoon is now expected to remain below the minor flood level.
Further rainfall is forecast over the weekend which may cause renewed river level rises. The situation is being closely monitored and further flood warnings will be issued if required.
Mitta Mitta River downstream of Lake Dartmouth:
Flooding is no longer expected along the Mitta Mitta River downstream of Lake Dartmouth.
The Mitta Mitta River at Tallandoon is currently at 3.05 metres and steady, below the minor flood level (4.20 m).
The Mitta Mitta River at Tallandoon is expected to remain below the minor flood level (4.20 m) over the next few days.
Flood Safety Advice:
SES advises that all community members should:
Never walk, ride or drive through floodwater,
Never allow children to play in floodwater,
Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain,
Keep well clear of fallen power lines
Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks, and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads.}
