Headline:
Tropical Cyclone expected to develop north of the Kimberley this week from Tuesday.
Areas Affected:
Warning zone: None.
Watch zone: None.
Cancelled zone: Kalumburu to Kuri Bay.
Details of Tropical Low 29U at 5:00 pm AWST:
Intensity: Tropical Low, sustained winds near the centre of 55 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 85 kilometres per hour.
Location: within 55 kilometres of 13.0 degrees South 124.2 degrees East, estimated to be 300 kilometres west northwest of Kalumburu and 280 kilometres north of Kuri Bay.
Movement: west southwest at 18 kilometres per hour.
Tropical Low 29U is located to the northwest of Kalumburu and is moving west southwest and will remain offshore from the Kimberley coast.
During Tuesday it could reach tropical cyclone strength, more likely later in the day, while taking a more westerly track, moving the system further away from the Kimberley coast. Increased rain, wind and wave impacts are expected along the northwest Kimberley coast during today and on Monday.
Hazards:
HEAVY RAINFALL is possible along coastal areas between Kalumburu and Kuri Bay tonight and on Monday. As the system moves past, tides between Kalumburu and Kuri Bay may rise above the normal high tide mark, but the sea level should not exceed the highest tide of the year.
