     Cancellation of Coastal Hazard Warning 
     
     for Wide Bay and Burnett Forecast District.
     
     Issued at 3:19 pm Thursday, 19 December 2024.
     
     
     Damaging surf across exposed coasts of southeast Queensland now easing.
     
     Weather Situation
    A strong southerly surge along the southeast Queensland coast is slowly easing with wave heights now decreasing below damaging levels.
    cancellation of coastal hazard warning for the following areas:
    Wide Bay and Burnett
    Coastal hazards are no longer occurring in QUEENSLAND.
     The immediate threat of coastal hazards has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.
     A significant wave height of 4.74m was observed at the Brisbane wave buoy at 11:30pm Wednesday
     A significant wave height of 5.76m was observed at the Tweed Offshore wave buoy at 3:00am Thursday
    
     
     Emergency services advise people to:
     * Talk to lifesavers or lifeguards about the conditions before entering the water.
     * Beware of coastal erosion and stand clear of high sand cliffs or sudden drop offs as they may be unstable.
     * Keep children within arm's reach while in the water.
     * Know your limitations when swimming and only swim at patrolled beaches during patrolled times.
     * For storm help, call the SES on 132 500 or download the free SES Assistance QLD app.
     
     No further warnings will be issued for this event.
