Major Flood Warning For The Laidley Creek And Moderate Flood Warning For The Lockyer Creek

WITH FORECAST RAINFALL MAJOR FLOODING IS POSSIBLE ALONG THE LAIDLEY CREEK OVERNIGHT SUNDAY
MODERATE FLOODING IS POSSIBLE ALONG LOCKYER CREEK FROM MONDAY MORNING
Moderate to heavy rainfall associated with Cyclone Alfred has been recorded across the Laidley and Lockyer Creek catchments since Friday. This has resulted in river level rises along the Laidley Creek. Further moderate to locally heavy rainfall is forecast during the remainder of Sunday into Monday. This has the potential to cause dangerous and rapid river level rises along the Lockyer and Laidley Creeks.
The situation is being monitored closely, and this flood warning will be updated as required.
A Flood Watch is current for South East Queensland, Condamine and Border Rivers. A Severe Weather Warning is current for southeastern Queensland.
Laidley Creek:
With forecast rainfall, major flooding may occur along the Laidley Creek.
The creek level along Laidley Creek at Laidley is estimated to be above the minor flood level (5.00 m) and rising.
The Laidley Creek at Laidley may reach the moderate flood level (6.00 m) overnight Sunday into Monday. The river level may reach the major flood level (7.00 m) early Monday morning, with forecast rainfall.
Lockyer Creek:
With forecast rainfall, moderate flooding may occur along the Lockyer Creek.
The creek level along Lockyer Creek at Gatton is estimated to be below the minor flood level (7.00 m) and steady.
With forecast rainfall, the Lockyer Creek at Gatton may reach the minor flood level (7.00 m) early Monday. After the onset of flooding, rapid rises and moderate flooding is possible during Monday morning.
The Lockyer Ck at Glenore Grove is currently at 1.96 metres and steady, below the minor flood level (8.00 m).
With forecast rainfall, the Lockyer Ck at Glenore Grove may reach the minor flood level (8.00 m) early Monday. After the onset of flooding, rapid rises and moderate flooding is possible during Monday.
