MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE ALONG THE WESTERN RIVER AT WINTON FROM MONDAY EVENING
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE ALONG THE DIAMANTINA RIVER AT BIRDSVILLE FROM OVERNIGHT MONDAY
Moderate to heavy rainfall over the last several days has caused river level rises across the Diamantina River catchment. Minor flooding is possible at Winton and Birdsville.
Moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms are forecast for the next few days.
A Severe Weather Warning is current for parts of the Northern Goldfield and Upper Flinders, North West, Central West, Channel Country and Maranoa and Warrego Forecast Districts.
The situation is being closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.
Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes. The river level is currently at 3.92 metres and rising, which is about 1.82 metres above the level of the causeway on the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road (2.10 m).
Western River:
Minor flooding may occur along the Western River.
The Western River at Winton is currently at 0.00 metres and steady, below the minor flood level (1.50 m).
The Western River at Winton may reach the minor flood level (1.50 m) from Monday evening. Further river level rises are possible with the forecast rainfall.
Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes:
Minor flooding may occur along the Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes.
The Diamantina River at Birdsville is currently at 3.00 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (4.00 m).
With further heavy rainfall, the Diamantina River at Birdsville may reach the minor flood level (4.00 m) overnight Monday into Tuesday. Further river level rises are possible with the forecast rainfall.
