Major Flood Warning For The Georgina River And Moderate Flood Warning For Eyre Creek

MAJOR FLOODING MAY OCCUR AT MARION DOWNS FROM THURSDAY
BEDOURIE MAY REACH THE BRIDGE LEVEL FROM THURSDAY, BUT IS DEPENDENT ON UPSTREAM FLOWS AND FORECAST RAINFALL
Moderate to locally heavy rainfall has been observed along the Georgina River and Eyre Creek over the last few days. This rainfall has resulted in river and creek level rises across the catchment, where moderate flooding is occurring at Marion Downs, Bedourie and minor flooding is occurring at Glengyle.
Further areas of widespread rainfall with locally heavy totals are forecast to continue for the next few days, which is likely to result in further rises.
A Severe Weather Warning is current for the Central West, Channel Country and Maranoa and Warrego Forecast Districts.
The situation is being closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.
Georgina River to Marion Downs:
River level rises have been recorded along the Georgina River at Roxborough Downs. Moderate flooding is occuring at Glenormiston on the Georgina River and at Boulia on the Burke River. Major flooding may occur at Marion Downs as floodwaters arrive from upstream.
The Georgina River at Marion Downs was at 4.38 metres and rising at 7:00 am Wednesday, above the moderate flood level (4.00 m).
The river level may reach the major flood level (5.00 m) during Thursday as floodwaters continue to arrive from upstream. Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.
Georgina River downstream of Marion Downs:
Elevated river and creek level rises are occurring along the Georgina River as floodwaters continue to arrive from upstream.
Eyre Creek:
Moderate flooding is occurring along Eyre Creek at Bedourie and may occur downstream at Glengyle during Wednesday.
Eyre Creek at Bedourie was at 4.25 metres and rising 9:00am Wednesday, above the moderate flood level (4.00 m).
The Eyre Creek at Bedourie is expected to remain above the moderate flood level (4.00 m) during Wednesday. The creek may reach the bridge level of 4.40 metres during Thursday, this timing is highly dependent on upstream flows and forecast rainfall.
Eyre Creek at Glengyle was at 2.80 metres and rising 9:00am Monday, above the minor flood level (2.00 m).
The Eyre Creek at Glengyle may reach the moderate flood level (3.00 m) from Wednesday evening as floodwaters continue to arrive from upstream. Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.
